The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently opened three elevators at the Ballston-MU Metrorail station in Arlington, Va.
WMATA added a second elevator next to an existing one on the north side of Fairfax Drive, and added two elevators and an underground passageway to connect the elevators to the existing entrance on the south side of Fairfax Drive.
Part of WMATA’s and Arlington County’s Metrorail station access improvement project, the elevators cost $10 million and took 18 months to install.
