WMATA begins station expansion

Today, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority broke ground on the King Street Metrorail Station expansion project.
The $16 million project includes expanding the station mezzanine; building an elevated walkway across Commonwealth Avenue; installing two new elevators and building a stairway to provide walkway access; installing a canopy above an uncovered portion of the platform; and adding a new station kiosk and farecard machines.
