WMATA employees receive awards for Sept. 11 actions (7/21/03)

The U.S. Department of Transportation recently recognized three Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) employees for their actions after the Sept. 11, 2001, Pentagon terrorist attack.

WMATA Chief Executive Officer Richard White received an award for his leadership in providing back-to-back rush hour service that morning, enabling passengers to return home.

Station Manager Jesse Robinson and Utility Supervisor Harold Euell also received awards for helping passengers reach safety from the Pentagon Metrorail station and nearby areas.
