Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Later this year, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) plans to upgrade passenger information display system monitors (PIDS) on station platform.
The improvements include upgrading the approaching and arriving train messages, and displaying line train information and train frequency.
"We think these enhancements will improve the flow of information to our customers who rely on these signs every day for important and accurate information," said Jim Gallagher, WMATA’s deputy general manager for operations in a prepared statement.
WMATA also plans to combine information that currently appears on multiple displays into one display, including arrivals for up to three incoming trains.
