Wabtec yesterday yesterday released its 2021 sustainability report, which highlights the company’s key progress in its environmental initiatives.
Wabtec, in a press release cited the following sustainability achievements:• completion of Wabtec’s first comprehensive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Materiality Assessment that included stakeholder involvement to identify material ESG issues;• publication of the Green Finance Framework, which will use green financing instruments to accelerate the development of technologies that enable sustainable value creation;• alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which represent a global agenda to address the the world's most pressing challenges, including climate action; and• third-party verification of Wabtec’s Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions data, as well as water consumption data in water-scarce areas, for the period from Jan. 1, 2020, to Dec. 31, 2020.
"Driving sustainable improvements is a journey that requires dedication and focus. We are committed to mitigating the impacts of climate change within our products and operations, doing more to create a diverse workforce, and empower our people,” said Wabtec President and CEO Rafael Santana.
