Wabtec Corp. subsidiary MPI de Mexico Aug. 28 reached a $3.9 million deal with Ferrocarril Central Andino S.A. to remanufacture five C30M-7 locomotives for the Peruvian rail services consortium.
The power units will be upgraded with microprocessor-based control systems manufactured by Wabtec subsidiary Q-Tron.
MPI de Mexico plans to remanufacture the locomotives at its San Luis Potosi, Mexico, facility and deliver the units by year-end.
The deal follows MPI de Mexico deliveries within the past year of four SD39M-3 and eight GP38M-4 locomotives to mining operators in Chile and Canada.
