Wal-Mart honors BNSF, Florida East Coast as carriers of the year

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. recently named BNSF Railway Co. “Rail Carrier of the Year” and Florida East Coast Railway L.L.C. (FECR), “Innovative Carrier of the Year.”
The rail carrier award recognizes BNSF’s revenue growth, ease of doing business, communication, flexibility and customer service.
“BNSF is honored to have received Wal-Mart’s Rail Carrier of the Year award for the seventh-consecutive year,” said Steve Branscum, BNSF group vice president-consumer products, in a prepared statement.
Wal-Mart bestowed the innovative carrier honor to FECR to recognize the 351-mile regional’s operating performance and ability to meet the shipper’s supply chain needs.
"Being recognized by Wal-Mart … validates our objective to provide value-added services to our intermodal customers,” said John Lucas, FECR vice president and general manager of intermodal.
