advertisement
The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) recently approved allocations from the Grade Crossing Protective Fund (GCPF) for two crossing projects.
The commission will provide $20,000 from the GCPF to Tacoma Rail to upgrade warning signals at a crossing in Tacoma. The railroad plans to install flashing LED lights and motion-sensing train detection devices, add pedestrian bells to both signal masts and replace crossbuck signs. The $27,095 project must be completed by June 15.
The UTC also will provide $20,000 from the GCPF to the city of Moxee to upgrade warning signals at one crossing and install a “no right turn” sign at a nearby state route. The city plans to install flashing LED lights and gates at the crossing. The $66,730 project must be completed by June 30.
