Progressive Railroading has named CN President and Chief Executive Officer E. Hunter Harrison the recipient of the “Railroad Innovator Award.”
The award, which recognizes an individual’s outstanding achievement in the rail industry, will be presented to Harrison at the magazine’s RailTrends conference to be held Oct. 6-7 at the Affinia Manhattan in New York City.
Harrison, who’s served as CN’s top executive since Jan. 1, 2003, will retire at year’s end. He is universally acknowledged for his operating expertise and passion for challenging conventional wisdom, as well as championing the “Precision Railroading” model, and spotting and nurturing top talent.
Progressive Railroading is honoring Harrison for his skills and accomplishments, which have generated real innovation and change within CN and the entire rail industry. He will be featured in the magazine’s September issue.
“Progressive Railroading is honored to acknowledge the many contributions that Mr. Harrison has made and is still making — to CN, the North American railroad industry and the freight transportation sector,” said Progressive Railroading publisher Steve Bolte.
