L.B. Foster Co.: Friction management services

L.B. Foster Co. continues to enhance its service capabilities, partnering with its customers on the design of their systems and assisting in the maintenance of those assets, the company said. These services maximize equipment uptime and allow customers to achieve the true benefits of their friction management programs, the company said.

L.B. Foster has built a team of field service specialists that have been strategically deployed to assist the company’s customer base across North America. A mobile Web-based data management application allows the company to deliver a full complement of friction management program deliverables. This data management technology enables L.B. Foster to provide its customers with real-time information that facilitates effective and efficient asset management, the company said.

Additionally, the company has invested in a growing fleet of hi-rail material handling and service equipment. Recently, L.B. Foster fully refurbished a High-Speed Rail Tribometer capable of simultaneously measuring both top of rail and gauge face friction levels, which can be delivered to a web interface.

L.B. Foster also can provide specification of equipment requirements and identification of optimal placement locations; equipment installations, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance; support of maintenance gangs with removal, relocation and/or reinstallation of equipment; delivery of grease and friction modifiers for trackside tank bulk filling; and handling of equipment to and from the right-of-way; and verification of friction management program effectiveness.
