LEDtronics: LED T5 tube light kits

LEDtronics® announced its new series of LED T5 High Output Tube Light Kits, which are available in a choice of 2, 3, 4 or 6-tube kits. They fit into almost any fixture and are easily installed, requiring only a single driver for up to four tubes and only two drivers for six tubes, the company said. Additionally, the UL-Recognized external drivers are included.

The T5 Tube Light Kits can be directly retrofitted into virtually any 4-foot, 2-pin in-line fluorescent tube fixture. Each tube in the LEDtronics LED48T5HO kits uses only 21 watts and replaces fluorescent counterparts up to 54W, offering energy savings of up to 50 percent.

The T5 LED tubes operate on a wide 100-277VAC voltage range, and provide a 120-degree wide beam of 5000K pure white light of more than 2600 lumens. The luminosity of the kits ranges from 4,925 lumens in the 2-tube to 14,815 in the 6-tube kit, with a high color rendering index surpassing 80.

The clear, UV-resistant polycarbonate lens provides increased protection, as it includes no glass to break and doesn't create mercury environmental hazards as fluorescent tubes do, according to the company. In addition, the aluminum housing shields against many environmental effects, allowing them to be placed in locations where typical tube lights would be more vulnerable to the elements, while the minimal lamp heat output of LEDs keeps temperatures optimally lower, saving air-conditioning costs.

LEDtronics high-output T5 tube lights perform in a range of ambient temperatures between -13°F to 113°F (-25°C to 45°C), making them ideal for applications subject to frequent on-off cycling or environments with very low temperatures, the company said. Their solid-state design renders them impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes, according to the company. In addition, the LEDtronics kits comply with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive, meaning they are lead- and mercury-free.

Furthermore, they do not require a ballast or a starter. The tubes have instant, full-strength light-up with no buzzing or flickering and an even, directional distribution of light. While conventional fluorescent lamps typically have an ideal-condition rated lab life in the range 8,000 to 24,000 hours, the LED T5 tube lights boast a real-world operating life of 50,000 hours and more.
