ZTR Control Systems: NEXSYS™ Integrated Locomotive Display

ZTR Control Systems has introduced the NEXSYS™ Integrated Locomotive Display (ILD) to the locomotive market. It is designed to replace aging gauges that may have needed calibrating in the past and avoid the need for a myriad of control box displays, freeing up space and clearing the view in the cab for the operator.

The NEXSYS ILD can integrate with ZTR's NEXSYS™III-i control system as well as other systems to show additional information beyond the diagnostics in the standard HMI screen; it shows the required information defined under the LSI specification (AAR S-591) and interfaces with the NEXSYS system to reduce the need for redundant sensors.

The NEXSYS ILD features numerous digital indicators graphical displays and alerts to increase safety, reliability and operational efficiency. These include:

• an advanced alerter function;
• digital gauges and speedometer;
• graphical alarms;
• digital status icons for various features;
• communication with the HOTD;
• advanced diagnostics;
• digital overspeed warnings;
• train length counter; and
• optional integration with electronic air-brake systems.

"Our clients told us they wanted a cab driver display meeting the requirements of the AAR LSI specification, but they also wanted the opportunity for further integration in the future," said Amarjit Soora, the company's manager of engineering.

ZTR Control Systems will demonstrate NEXSYS with the HMI and ILD screens at Railway Interchange 2017, to be held Sept. 17-20 in Indianapolis.
