Plasser American: Track maintenance equipment

Plasser American designs and manufactures track maintenance equipment, such as switch and production tampers, dynamic track stabilizers, ballast regulating and undercutting cleaning machines, ballast hopper/conveyor cars, track geometry measuring cars, catenary maintenance, construction and inspection vehicles, and flash-butt welding robotic machines. The company also provides telemetric systems to help customers maintain and manage their equipment via remote access to their machines’ data and processes.

Plasser’s APT1500RL Welding Truck is the first flash-butt welder that can weld rails automatically, company officials say. The integrated capacity of the APT1500R Robotic Welding Head does not require a separate rail pulling device to perform closure welds.
