GE Lighting: The GE LED Tricolor Signal

Railways demand safety and reliability at all hours of the day and night. The GE LED Tricolor Signal from GE Lighting answers an industry need to replace old technology with a high-efficiency lighting system designed to provide exceptional reliability in addition to infrastructure and inventory savings.

The GE LED Tricolor Signal has a "unique retrofit design" with the capacity to fit three color lights — red, yellow and green — in a single lamp, the company says. In a compact design, it incorporates three distinct power supplies and more than 350 LEDs. The LED system’s design meets selected AREMA recommended practices and "offers excellent appearance and visibility with a longer life," the company says.

“When designing the Tricolor, our goal was to minimize infrastructure and maintenance costs, while focusing on developing a retrofit product that could be easily installed in existing or new rail applications,” said Anik Roy Trudel, global product manager-transportation, GE Lighting. “Space and weight constraints can normally lead to greater infrastructure cost. Tricolor’s design lends itself well to installation in areas with these constraints, allowing for significant infrastructure cost reduction.”

The GE LED Tricolor Signal recently received the Illuminating Engineering Society’s Progress Report seal, indicating its "significant contribution to advancing the art and science of lighting, as well as advancement in lighting design," the company says, adding that "early customer response praises the product’s ease of installation and the level of visibility provided."
