IVM: POWERVE

Innovative Vibration Monitoring (IVM) has developed POrtable WEigher for Railway VEhicles (POWERVE), a new technology that enables the measurement of the rolling stock static weight in running order, interposing a couple of load cells between the rail and wheel of each rolling stock truck.

POWERVE measures the actual weight loaded on track, which helps to improve rolling stock safety.

Moreover, IVM has certified the whole measurement procedure so that customers can weigh a rolling stock vehicle in several phases, truck by truck, using one POWERVE truck kit.

The product's main benefits:
• It weighs the train in real running order conditions on the track, without modifying the train balance;
• The whole system measurement accuracy is < 1 percent, and it has been certified through specific in-field tests;
• Two people are able to carry it by hand, install and use;
• It requires less than 30 minutes (installation included), to perform the measurement of one bogie.
