L&W Industries: Heavy-duty conversion bracket

L&W Industries has unveiled a new heavy-duty conversion bracket aimed at improving grade crossing safety and reducing maintenance costs.

To develop the bracket, the company improved upon existing guidelines established by the American Railway Engineering Maintenance-of-Way Association. L&W hailed the new product as the "strongest, longest lasting conversion bracket in the industry."

The bracket helps reduce crossing maintenance expenses by countering the effects of leverage, twisting and deflection caused by the weight of longer gate arms, L&W officials said in a press release. The product also features a round cross brace.

By maximizing the weld surface and using teardrop-shaped angles to add extra support to the cast breakaway attachment, the bracket provides a cost-effective solution, company officials added.
