PS Technology/Valvora: Cloud-based project management

PS Technology/Valvora and HDR have combined their expertise to create a solution that lets railroads connect digital toolsets they already have for managing large projects. Known as "TecHub," the solution is an online application for managing complex, multitask projects.

It can be set up, deployed and maintained for an agreed-upon term to augment existing management tools and more effectively communicate project information to project team members. TecHub users get "unprecedented" access and visual representation of documents, interactive GIS spatial visualizations, task status, quality control data and more — all from a user-friendly, web-based interface with no additional software, company officials say.

In addition, users gain secure access to a central repository of all project documents. They can link project asset geography to other modules, and link inspection forms and/or photos taken in the field to features on the GIS map.

Users also can mark up maps with graphics, create PDFs and send them to team members or email team members a link of the current map to discuss a project.

Other features include:

    •    no software to install;
    •    ability to visualize GIS spatial information and links to documents from a single interactive map;
    •    access to real-time field data;
    •    ability to visualize the project status and progress by location; and
    •    ability to print and share PDF maps, or store them in the Document Management module.
