Rail Safety Consulting: RailRisk PTC hazard reporting system

Rail Safety Consulting, a division of TUV Rheinland Inc., has worked with Class I railroads and several commuter railroads to developed a solution to fulfill a portion of FRA Regulation 49 CFR 236.1023.
This regulation pertaining to PTC certification requires railroads to maintain a database of all safety relevant hazards associated with their PTC operation and notify the FRA if they surpass certain observed frequency thresholds.
Rail Safety Consulting has developed a web-based product called the RailRisk™ PTC Hazard Reporting System. This product — and the associated services provided as part of the annual user's fee — provides railroads affected by PTC with both a cost effective solution to fulfill the FRA regulation and the ability to leverage the experiences of the broader RailRiskTM railroad user's group to assist in the identification and analysis of any safety relevant failures of their PTC systems.
