Railmark Track Works Inc.: Biobased rail lubricants product line

Railmark Holdings Inc. recently announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Railmark Track Works Inc., re-launched its Biobased Rail Lubricants product line. First launched and tested in 2012, Railmark and its technology partner have made additional improvements to increase lubricity and adjust the formula to provide for a special Biobased “Frigid Climate” Switch Lubricant.

Railmark’s biobased rail lubricants include premium quality biobased switch lubricants, biobased hydraulic oils and biobased top of rail lubricants. Railmark’s biobased rail lubricants have been tested both in the lab and in railroad operations, demonstrating superior lubricity and resulting in less friction which translates to less heat and less wear on rail equipment and rail infrastructure.

Other features of the company's biobased rail lubricants:

• They meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “Environmental Preferable Purchasing (EPP)” criteria, designated as a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) “BioPreferredTM” product, and is “Biobased Labeled.”

• They are manufactured in the United States from renewable, U.S.-grown crop based oils and a lithium-based thickener.

• They feature a higher viscosity index. Its base oils are two times higher (over 200) than equivalent viscosity petroleum-base oils (95), providing more stable viscosity at different temperatures and a wider range of operation.

• They contain no heavy metals, no chlorine and no harsh odors; they're safer for workers and the environment versus petroleum-based greases and oils.

Railmark’s new products include a “WINTER-USE” Biobased Railroad Switch Lubricant when temperatures remain below 18 degrees C (0 degrees F) for extended periods of time in more frigid and northern climates. Railmark now offers Biobased Hydraulic Oils (ISO 22 to ISO 68) and Biobased Universal Tractor Transmission Fluid (ISO 46) for use in maintenance of way and other equipment.

Later in 2015 Railmark will be announcing its new line of Biobased “Top of Rail” and Biobased “Solid Stick” Lubrication products.
