Ken Schmidt, motivational speaker and former Harley Davidson Co. director of communications, will give the keynote address at Railway Interchange 2017, the U.S.-based combined exhibition and technical conference taking place Sunday, Sept. 17 through Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Indiana Convention Center. Schmidt will address the joint general session on Monday, Sept. 18.

Schmidt played an active role in one of the most celebrated turnarounds in corporate history, and his vision helped transform Harley Davidson into one of the world’s most dominant brands. He shares stories of how to compete with weapons stronger than price, build a fanatically vocal customer base, create a passionately loyal corporate culture, and develop leaders who inspire and motivate.

Norfolk Southern Corp. Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Michael J. Wheeler will address the AREMA Annual Committee Chairs Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 19.  Anthony Hatch, Wall Street transportation analyst and consultant, and Progressive Railroading columnist, will speak at the closing AREMA general session on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Online registration and hotel reservations for Railway Interchange 2017 can be made as of April 3. An outline of the schedule for Railway Interchange 2017, including the general AREMA session with days and times, is available at the schedule at a glance page. An overview of the exhibition including the floor plan is available on the exhibition page.

Railway Interchange 2017 combines the technical and education conferences of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) and the Coordinated Mechanical Associations (CMA) with a major exhibition showcasing the latest technology, services, and research by members of the Railway Supply Institute (RSI), the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA), and Railway Systems Suppliers, Inc. (RSSI).

“This will be the fourth time that we will have the opportunity to bring our technical conference together with the exhibition provided by RSI, REMSA and RSSI,” said AREMA Executive Director and CEO Beth Caruso.

“We’re anticipating another great Railway Interchange in 2017 following the 2015 conference and exhibition, which drew 9,000 attendees,” said RSI President Tom Simpson.

“Combined exhibit space is already 80 percent sold at Railway Interchange 2017,” added REMSA Executive Director/CEO David Tennent.

“Railway Interchange continues its reputation as the must-attend U.S. rail industry event,” added RSSI Executive Director Secretary/Treasurer Michael A. Drudy.
