Schaefer: C600 Series DC-DC and AC-DC converters

Schaefer, Inc. has announced the C600 Series of DC-DC and AC-DC converter modules. The compact and ultra-rugged 3U design uses industrial-grade components and provides high-density, space-saving solutions for wayside signal and communication installations globally. These units are ideal for redundant systems with two units per 19-inch sub-rack.

The C600 Series delivers up to 500W of power and offers DC input voltage range of 10-380VDC with seven input range choices. AC input options are single-phase 115VAC or 230VAC (with or without PFC) or three-phase inputs of 3x200VAC. These modules are single output and are available in 12 standard ranges from 5-400VDC. All outputs are adjustable and regulated to 0.2 percent (load) and 0.1 percent (line). The units feature natural convection cooling and a standard operating temperature range of –20°C to +75°C (derate 2.5% / °C from +55°C), with an option for -40°C to +75°C.

Modules are housed in an industry-standard 3U form factor for insertion into 19-inch sub-racks. Optional wall, chassis and DIN-Rail mounting also are available. In addition, Schaefer can provide 19-inch sub-racks wired to customer requirements to complete the installation.

All models have comprehensive protection circuitry including over-voltage protection, current limit protection on the output, and thermal shutdown with auto restart. Options include parallel/redundant operation, inhibit, Power-OK/DC-OK alarms, system reset signaling, active current sharing and programming/monitoring functions, etc. Battery charger modules are available (B600 models). Mechanical and electrical modifications to standard modules are available upon request.
