Schaffner: Dry-Type Transformers

Schaffner Inc. now offers low- and medium-voltage dry-type transformers that meet IEEE 519, MIL specs (including Navy 400Hz) in standard designs through an application engineered to customer specification. The transformers are now available through the Rockwell Encompass Partner program.

Products range from 1kva to 15mva, through 35kv, with air, iron-core and current limiting reactors, rectifier duty, excitation and multiple primary/secondary winding solutions. Copper and aluminum materials offered, along with Magna-Seal insulation for severe environments. Open type and NEMA enclosed.

Standard 18-pulse autotransformers available to 800 HP for harmonic suppression, or custom multipulse autotransformers to customer spec. The transformers are ideal for a wide variety of applications, including rail – for rolling stock and wayside power, motor drives, rectifier, data centers, solar, wind turbines and utility distribution, according to Schaffner.

In addition to a wide range of standard and custom designed inductors, reactors and transformers, Schaffner also offers in-plant or on-site rewinding of virtually any brand or type of transformer.

The company’s portfolio of “shaping electrical power” solutions is one of the broadest in the industry, including EMI filters, chokes and power quality harmonic filters, low and medium voltage transformers, inductors, reactors and other power magnetic components and systems, the company says. Schaffner products are typically used in a variety of industrial, commercial and medical applications, including electronic motor controls, renewable energy systems, rail/transit technology, machine tools and robotics, water and waste water, oil and gas, electrical infrastructure and the manufacturing industry.
