Wi-Tronix: Violet coming in May

On May 17, Wi-Tronix LLC plans to introduce Violet™, a Locomotive Data Acquisition Recording System (LDARS), at its annual conference in Chicago.

The unveiling of Violet will be the focus of the conference, where Wi-Tronix officials expect to detail the system’s operational and technological advances, demonstrate the new system and answer questions. The event is attended by chief executive officers, operations and information technology professionals, industry media representatives, thought leaders and government policy makers.

“Throughout our company history, we’ve led the way in innovation. Violet is no exception,” said Wi-Tronix Executive Vice President of Business Development Michael Heilmann in a press release. “It is a revolutionary solution that will provide unprecedented monitoring for our clients’ high-value mobile assets. Violet provides features which render all other LDARS obsolete.”

Wi-Tronix monitors 10,000 locomotives worldwide to help improve the safety, reliability and efficiency of both passenger- and freight-rail operations. LDARS is a major component of a positive train control system, which many freight and passenger railroads are mandated by the U.S. government to install by 2018.

Wi-Tronix plans to accept orders for Violet at the May 17 conference.
