Event# 397260RFP - Joint Agency (LIRR & MNR) Procurement - Rail Flaw Testing & Joint Bar Inspection Services. The Long Island Rail Road Company ("LIRR") on behalf of itself and Metro-North Commuter Railroad (“MNR”) hereby solicit proposals from qualified proposers to provide Rail Flaw Testing and Joint Bar Inspection Services for a five (5) year term. The intent of this project is to improve the quality of rail and joint bar inspection. Presently, LIRR and MNR, perform visual inspections of rails and joint bars with in-house personnel with some rail inspection services contracted out to a third party. The Railroads are looking to incorporate the latest inspection technology to the track program. Systems which are rail bound or hi-rail mounted and can inspect at speeds upwards of 20 mph, and systems that combine their testing/inspection services into the same car are the type of systems that can enhance the existing program at the Railroads.
