The ASF-Keystone? low-profile center plates and AAR center plates are produced with special steel alloys, providing hardness that exceeds AAR specifications for center-plate hardness, the company says. Types available: 16-inch diameter, 1-3/4-inch and 2-inch hole diameters and 14-inch diameter, 1-3/4-inch diameter 1-1/8-inch depth. Bearing surfaces between car and truck body are machined to a finish of 250-micro inches. The design is approved for use by major freight car builders and railroads.
