Designed primarily for the purpose of transporting rail anchors, the KAT 800 also serves as a crew transporter. Working in a tie and surfacing gang, it is capable of carrying approximately 2,500 pounds of anchors, tools, or other track material. A 127-horsepower engine provides power to one of two 3-inch diameter alloy steel axles through a chain and sprocket system. The travel speed is up to 25 mph. Machine controls are located at the operator's position with ground controls located each side at the rear. Various options include: canopy configurations, tool cabinets, jib boom w/hoist, extra bench seat, and gas bottle storage racks.
