Rail Industry Component:
National Steel Car Limited: Bi-Level Auto Rack

National Steel Car Limited

National Steel Car's bi-level auto rack meets the M-950A-09, M-956-79 and the AARS-2038 Safety Appliances requirements. The easy to operate tri-fold end enclosures (doors) offer a full clear opening, a good seal and includes a retractable door step (patented), the company says. All hardware on the door is either stainless steel or galvanized. This fully tested lightweight door exceeds the AAR M-941-98 & M-941-11 specifications. The deck design utilizes closed section deck stringers (patented) and the corrugated hinged deck has lateral positive camber for water drainage. The rack cross-brace design incorporates capped tube ends and uses a horizontal tube that further stabilizes the rack structure in an effort to improve the life cycle of the rack, the company says.
