The flat car has a 48-foot loading platform and a 744,000-pound load limit. The design is new to the railroad industry, says the company. A major change is in the bolster-truck arrangement. The Kasgro car uses six two-axle 125-ton trucks, instead of the conventional four three-axle trucks. The National Casting swing motion design of these new trucks enables the wheels to remain parallel to the rail, allowing better tracking, the company says. The car improves track dynamics and load handling for railroads and shippers of large and heavy shipments.
