IRECO's AAR-approved air-hose support (part number 20406L) was designed specifically for locomotive applications. It features a sliding thimble to protect the cable from the sharp edges of the air hose support hole on the coupler; and a fixed thimble at the gladhand end to protect the cable from the sharp edges of the gladhand air-hose support hole. The sliding thimble was specially designed to accommodate various sized air-hose support holes on locomotive couplers. The thimbles will not deform on the cable during normal car uncoupling procedures and they will extend the life of the product, the company says. This product also can be used as an air-hose support for some freight car applications.
