Progress Rail, MOW Division

The Ballast Regulator 46 is designed for ballast shaping, shoulder profiling and a variety of track maintenance operations. The one-pass transfer plow is fully adjustable from the cab and transfers ballast from one side of the track to the other in a single pass. It can be used to plow in or plow out in either direction of travel. The 36-inch-wide reversible wings have templates that are hydraulically adjusted from the cab to carry ballast forward or backward, or to transfer it from the shoulder to the tops of ties. A hydraulically operated broom attachment removes excess ballast from the tops of ties and sweeps through switches. The unit is capable of clearing track at 30 mph with its standard four-speed transmission or 50 mph with optional shift-on-the-go transmission, the company says. The unit can also be equipped as a snow fighter or with a brush cutter attachment. An optional dust collector is available.
