The Plasser 09-2X C.A.T. is a high-speed, continuous-action production tracktamping machine especially designed for the ?skip tamping technique? on wood or concrete tie track and irregular tie spacing conditions. The design consists of a 09-2X C.A.T. tamper as the main machine with an integrated, independently working tamping trailer. The main machine carries out all tamping, lifting and lining, with he work units mounted on a separate satellite frame that is connected to the main frame. While the satellite indexes from tie to tie skipping one tie during the actual work process (lifting, lining, cross leveling, and tamping), the machine?s main frame moves smoothly and continuously at a speed determined by the operator. The integrated tamping trailer, controlled by the main machine, tamps every skipped tie. The main machine is fitted with an operator?s cabin, front travel cabin, power unit, main hydraulic components, electronic systems, etc. The 09-2X C.A.T.?s unique design and construction allows production rates of up to 46 ties per minute. This production capability is especially important for high-density railways, where track availability is minimal. Plasser Continuous Action Tampers have been working successfully on major railway systems world-wide since 1983, providing optimum ?return on investment? of track maintenance expenditures. The 09-2X C.A.T. is equipped with AGGS, ATLAS, PLC and a diagnostic system.
