Plasser American Corporation: Grinding Machine - GWM250

Plasser American Corporation

The Plasser GWM250 is a rail surface, and corrugation grinding machine. Compared to conventional rotary grinding machines, the unique, patented Plasser grinding system is the only system available which offers a spark-free operation utilizing a water supply for lubrication of the grinding stones. This system is not subject to fire hazards caused by rotary action grinding machines. Also, utilizing water during the grinding operation eliminates dust, which is an important factor in highly populated areas. There is no need for operators to wear respirators or masks. The GWM250 is equipped with two grinding units and is capable of grinding plain track, switches and crossings. Both grinding units are mounted between the trucks. Grinding is performed by means of an oscillating, scrubbing motion and the continuous movement of the machine. Both grinding units operate at a frequency of 4.5 Hz and roll along the rail. The machine is designed with a control cabin on each end for machine movement and grinding operation.
