Occasionally, wheel stops are required in locations that are also used for through-train movements or highway vehicle passage. Western-Cullen-Hayes' Type SH hinge wheel stops also can be used as a permanently mounted chock in locations where cars are routinely spotted at the same point on the track. Removal from the head of the rail is accomplished by simply lifting the locking bar and lowering the wheel block clear of the rail. No tools are necessary. The wheel stops are designed for moderate impact car-stopping.
