The Model GB-4 lightweight ballast tamper consists of one set of four tampers operated by a power plant. An all-direction vibratory action produces 4,200 vibrations per minute. Fitted with the proper blades and tips, the tampers are suitable for all tamping conditions whatever the nature of the ballast and the lifting height may be, the company says. The GB-4 can be handled by one person and quickly removed from the track, which allows use on heavy-traffic lines as well as in stations. The GB-4 is particularly suitable for tamping switch points and crossings, the company says.
