Geismar Modern Track Machinery Inc.: Model MOD-12 Corrugation Grinder

Geismar Modern Track Machinery Inc.

The Model MOD-12 corrugation grinder is designed to eliminate undulatory wear of short and medium amplitude of the upper surface of the rails. It consists of a grinding element, two sets of leveling rollers and a support trolley. Grinding of the corrugation zone is done in successive steps. The grindstone can be retracted in its protective casing, thus eliminating accidents, the company says. The two sets of leveling rollers, each composed of 16 support rollers and one double flange guiding roller, maintain the grindstone in a perfect horizontal position on the rail head, thus avoiding grinding in the bottom of undulations. The grinding element can also be tilted in order to obtain the best rail surface. A 10-horsepower engine powers the MOD-12. A hydraulic model of this machine is also available.
