ASF-Keystone's NC-440 elastomer draft gear employs specially compounded elastomer as the cushioning medium for meeting M-901E applications. Because of the horn clearance provided, and no solid point, there are no metal-to-metal stops to limit travel. The draft gear develops substantial reserve capacity beyond AAR rating travel and AAR maximum travel. It can withstand impact forces up to 1.25 million pounds and still provide cushioning, the company says.
