John Deere's proven PowerTech® Plus Tier 3/Stage III A engine technology — which includes cooled exhaust gas recirculation, a variable geometry turbocharger, high-pressure fuel system and an engine control unit, in addition to an exhaust filter — will be used as the foundation to meet Interim Tier 4/Stage III B mobile off-highway emissions regulations, the company says. The Interim Tier 4/Stage III B engines will feature maintained or improved power ratings, peak torque levels, low-speed torque, transient response time, cold-weather starting and fuel economy, the company says. The John Deere PowerTech family of industrial engines are available in 2.4L, 3.0L, 4.5L, 6.8L, 9.0L and 13.5L displacements, with a power range of 30 kW to 448 kW (149 horsepower to 600 horsepower).
