Trackmobile is making its Radio Control System and Ground Control System (GCS) available as options on its three series of mobile rail car movers. Trackmobile Radio Control is integrated into the design of each model, not bolted on. The transmitter is designed to be lightweight but rugged for tough applications. Trackmobile Radio Control features frequency hopping technology, which does not require FCC licensing and permits operation of an unlimited number of transmitters and receivers in the same area. Trackmobile GCS is available for both remote-control equipped and non-remote-control equipped units. It is designed to enhance crew operation by giving positive control of rail car movers and coupled rail cars to the ground person. The GCS transmitter, about the size of a normal TV remote control, can be used to send an audible signal to the operator in the cab, alerting him or her of the ground person's intentions. It also can be used by the ground person to lock the Trackmobile transmission into neutral, and to apply and hold the service brakes. The operator cannot move the unit until the ground person restores control to the cab. The GCS also can be used during rail car movements to initiate an emergency stop by pushing a single button, applying the service brakes, dumping the train brakes to emergency and bringing the consist to a halt.
