Rail Industry Component:
Railtek Industries Inc.: Railtek Transporter (Rail Buggy)

Railtek Industries Inc.

Railtek Industries Inc. builds an FRA approved rail buggy which allows a standard hydraulic excavator to transport itself along the rails and perform a variety of maintenance-of-way tasks. The design allows the rail buggy and excavator to travel 25 mph plus get on and off the rail anywhere, without the need for a crossing, the company says. The rail buggy is made of alloy steel and is powered by the excavator's hydraulic system. Control is simple using the excavator travel pedals, the company says. Four-wheel spring applied hydraulically released brakes and two wheel suspension are standard, as are hydraulic stabilizers for tough work. The company says this arrangement allows a standard excavator to work as a “tool carrier” doing ditching, culvert cleaning, tie replacement, mowing, slide clean-up, etc. Mount/dismount can be done in a few minutes and requires no tools. Railtek Industries Inc. builds various models of the rail buggy, to fit 120- to 400-size excavators. The company also builds a trailer/work cart to expand the flexibility of this package.
