The rotary scarifier 44 has three rotary-tooth drums that scarify between the rails and immediately adjacent to the outer edge of the rails for clearing a width up to 9 feet, 5 inches. A standard equipment extension which pivots into position extends the digging capability on one side of the head to 6 feet, 3 inches from the track center line. An optional extension provides a total of 7 feet, 5 inches from the center line and an overall digging width of 14 feet, 10 inches if extensions are used on both sides of the head. An optional tie sweep assembly allows material left directly under the rail to be removed by kicker feet.
