The Progress Rail combination broom/snow switch cleaner is designed as an attachment for the company's ballast regulator. The machine can be used year-round. For snow-removal operations, the attachment is equipped with an auger/impeller assembly. Snow is swept from the switch area into the auger/impeller assembly, and propelled clear of track through the operator-controlled discharge chute. For summer operation, the attachment can be readily changed to a ballast broom by removing the auger assembly and bolting the ballast deflector frame in its place.
