Hayward Baker's subgrade injection stabilization is a maintenance technique used for stabilizing problematic railroad subgrades without taking the track out of service. A variety of cement and slag slurries are injected into the subgrade to fill cracks, weakness planes, voids and ballast pockets, and to displace trapped water. Fly ash has not been utilized for more than 25 years. The grout increases the strength of the subgrade soils, resulting in slope stability, settlement reduction, less maintenance and removal of slow orders.
