Phoenix Contact introduces BE-AR surge protection devices, a product line that addresses control and signal line circuit protection for the wayside track environment. The BE-AR series has hot-swapping replacement capability and remote monitoring for efficient installation and low-cost maintenance practices. The products feature two parts — a base element and plug — that drastically reduce assembly time when compared to traditional solutions. A common base element accepts multiple plug elements, making a standardized base for all applications. The BE-AR SPDs feature a DIN rail-mount slot that provides the mechanism for securing the assembly to a DIN rail, as well as an organized wire assembly and a visual fault indicator that reduces plug replacement time. In addition, the products feature positive wire retention using cage screw clamps. The BE-AR product line offers over 60 percent time savings for installation and maintenance, compared with legacy railroad SPDs. It also complies with the best practice guidelines set forth in the AREMA C&S manual.
