The Plasser switch exchange system WM40PK is designed to allow rapid, efficient switch and panel exchanges when work periods are restricted due to high-traffic density. The system consists of an on/off rail self-propelled transport car, two switch section transport cars and two panel/switch section lifting and installation cranes. The cranes can position new section laterally and longitudinally accurately to reduce installation labor, the company says. The system can replace switch sections (wood and concrete tied) weighing up to 40 tons each. High-speed cross-overs can be installed rapidly without damage to track components.
