H.B. Fuller has manufactured tie plugging urethanes for years and recently developed two new products: a high-density material UR-2268, and a low-density material UR-2233. H.B. Fuller's UR-2268 is a high-density, dual component polyurethane that was designed to hold gauge in severe track conditions like mountains and curves. The UR-2268 was designed to have a slightly slower reaction time that allows for spikes to be driven up to two hours after plugging and costs less per hole than other hard materials, the company says. H.B. Fuller's UR-2233 was designed as a low-density, foaming urethane offering proven performance at an low cost per hole. Both products were designed to be gang friendly. The company says there will be no split ties, bent spikes, or excess foaming in a wet hole.
