The Track Surface Measurement System (TSMS), another of the Vision Systems, is designed to measure the height, volume and relative position of objects on, or near the track. It acts as a maintenance program “third-eye,” designed to help reach a higher consciousness in infrastructure maintenance needs, the company says. The system is designed to acquire up to 5,000 track profile images per second with a resolution of 0.6-mm (0.02-inch). The TSMS system, with its 2D and 3D visual reporting modes, is designed to allow the user to see — at the rail's level — loose or raised fasteners, excess or lack of ballast, sleeper position and elevation to give the maintenance staff an enhanced understanding of an infrastructure's behavior.
