Magnus-produced traction motor support bearings are precision-machined, bronze bearings centrifugally cast to provide a dense, fine grain, high-strength back that is centrifugally lined with babbitt for ensuring a strong bond. Rigid quality control and final inspection is maintained and designed to provide recognized performance excellence, the company says. Magnus manufactures special traction motor support bearings for many older locomotives; on-shelf availability of standard-size through 3/16-inch undersize bearings for later model traction motors help put locomotives promptly back in service. The motor support bearings are manufactured for standard and undersize locomotive axles to provide appropriate diametrical and lateral clearances.
