American made UNA-DRIV™ high-strength bolts from BBC Fasteners Inc. are available for new hopper car fabrication or repair programs. Aluminum cars require the heavy head pattern with heavy zinc plating, while steel cars use the phosphate/oil finish. For safety-related applications like ladders, handholds or sill steps, the UNA-DRIV system can be used in compliance with CFR Title 49. Ease of installation and lighter-weight tools reduce operator fatigue and increase productivity using one man with one tool, the company says. Bolts are made in 1/2-inch, 5/8-inch, 3/4-inch and 7/8-inch diameters to ASTM A325 physical properties and tested with UNA-DRIV all metal prevailing-torque locknuts.
