The Model KBC 750 excavates and cleans the full ballast section or the shoulder ballast at rates up to 750 cubic meters/hour. The shoulder excavating system has two large excavating wheels with oversize buckets. The maximum depth of cut is 30 inches below the top of the rail. An undercutter chain removes ballast from under and between the ties to a maximum of 35 inches below the top of the rail. A two-deck screen provides more than adequate surface area for high-capacity cleaning, the company says. Hydraulically controlled and adjustable plows profile the cleaned ballast deposited on either or both shoulders to the desired width and slope.
