VERSE® (Vertical Rail Stiffness Equipment) is a device that can non-destructively determine the stress-free or neutral temperature of continuously welded rail (CWR). Measurements typically take 30 minutes per rail or about 50-55 minutes per two-rail site. No cutting of the rail or welding is necessary. Accuracy is within +/- 1.5 C. With about 60 machines in use worldwide, VERSE has become widely accepted as an accurate method of measuring rail neutral temperature, the company says.
